Educational Qualifications
Mr. Maroba attended his primary school from 1966 to 1972 at the Bobonong Primary School, from where he proceeded to do his secondary school education at Moeng College where he completed his Junior Certificate and Cambridge Overseas School Certificate.
Mr Maroba holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Botswana and Swaziland (1982) and a Masters of Arts degree in Applied Economics from the American University in Washington DC (1987). His research interest is in international economics and development economics with particular emphasis on poverty issues.
Work Experience
Currently employed as Programme Co-coordinator with effect from February 2002, to assist the Executive Director in the matters concerning the general management of the Institute, co-ordination of operational and planning activities and the servicing of the Board of Trustees. The work entails among other thins, scheduling and co-ordination of arrangements to facilitate implementation and monitoring of the overall research and consultancy programme including budgeting, long term strategies and business planning; Establishing of systems for monitoring projects, time scheduling, progress reporting and cost controlling procedures.
Mr. Maroba has a wealth of experience in administration, human resources, and finance (Botswana Bureau of Standards), trade policy analysis and formulation (Ministry of Trade and Industry) and transport logistics (Botswana Railways).
Mr. Maroba is also a trained Work Improvement Teams (WITS) Facilitator (Botswana Government)

- Traveled widely to attend meetings to discuss rail transport marketing in my capacity as Secretary of the Southern African Regional Railways Network from 1994 to 1995;
- Traveled widely to attend conferences and meetings on regional and international trade policy issues between 1995 and 1998. Countries visited include all SADC counties (except Angola, DRC and Seychelles), all SACU countries, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Singapore;
- Represented the country and played a significant role as technical expert in the SACU Agreement re-negotiations, the negotiations and drafting of the SADC Trade Protocol and other bilateral trade agreements;
- Assisted with the coordination of the Gaborone International Trade Fair between 1982 and 1984 and represented Botswana manufacturers at other international trade fairs;
- Treasurer of the Vikings Softball Club from 1982 to 1983 and a member of the executive Committee from 1981 to 1985 and 1988 to 1991.
- Principal Officer for the Botswana Bureau of Standards Staff Pension Fund (1998 to 2002)

Hobbies:
Mr. Maroba enjoys reading business news, publications on trade policy as well as HR management issues and novels. He also enjoys listening to country, jazz and classical music.
He plays softball, volleyball and soccer. Mr Maroba was selected in the national softball team to represent Botswana at the World Softball Championships in Michigan State, USA in 1984 and was a key member of the National Softball Team from 1981 to 1985.
