The design of a National Anti-Corruption Policy for Botswana

BIDPA was engaged by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) to conduct research for use in the development of a National Anti Corruption Policy (NACP) for Botswana. The overall objective of the project is researching the current institutional landscape of anticorruption in Botswana and drafting of a National Anti Corruption Policy. Other objectives are a review of legal and organizational arrangements for fighting corruption; profile corruption prone areas in Botswana and advise on how best to mitigate for these; and assess how best oversight institutions’ operational strategies can be improved for this purpose. A stakeholder event was undertaken to launch the draft anticorruption policy. The attendees of the event included senior government officials, development partners, civil society organizations, oversight organizations, the media, oversight organizations, audit organizations among others. Thereafter the Project Team incorporated comments from the workshop, and completed the project
