Detail
|
A number of programmes have been introduced by governments to improve the welfare of households engaged in agricultural production. Some of these programmes have involved restriction of cross-border trade. Botswana is currently facing the challenge of having to remove both tariff and non-tariff barriers to cross-border trade. Although it will improve consumer welfare through lower commodity prices and in overall improve the country’s social welfare, trade liberalization impacts negatively on the welfare of producers. The objective of this research is to quantify the welfare impacts of policy reform on the different players in the country. |
